Well it was a good one and once again thanks go out to all those who helped, supported and bought from us.
Things that sold included several vintage necklaces [will post pics soon], lots of glass candlesticks, some pretty vintage china, handmade cushions and some very pretty sequined party tops.
The fair on the whole was well attended and certainly put us all in the mood for Christmas. Personally I'm putting the staple gun, glue gun, sewing machine, furniture polish, paintbrushes etc away until next year.
So for now, all there is to say is enjoy the festive season and we'll see you in the new year...

Some of us will be at various craft and vintage fairs over the next few weeks, however if you are in the area check out the Leigh Handmade and Vintage Fair on Saturday 1st December, Leigh Community Centre, Elm Road, Leigh on Sea, Essex. Free entry - from 10 til 4pm. Always a well attended event, filled with gorgeous unique, unusual and affordable items perfect for Xmas presents and festive homes. See you there!

Always sad when something good has to end, but the lease is up and we are not able to maintain our presence at the Southend shop. As from the end of this month The Curious Home will no longer be at 15 Market Place. However in the run up to Christmas we've decided to concentrate on the local fairs ... watch this space for information. I can say that we will be at the Royal Hotel, High Street Southend on October 13th, doing the Dotty Sparkle Homemade and Vintage event. This has been an ambition of ours so it is quite good to get the time to do it. Hopefuilly we'll see you there! Look in again to see some of the goodies we'll have to offer.

Exciting new lines being added in preparation for the changing season. We're especially pleased to say that we are trialling some wonderful retro badges featuring kitsch, gothic and pin up designs. Perfect for attaching to your new autumn jacket or coat.

We will be adding a selection of clothing to our room, and don't forget to come see the wonderful feather headpieces and hairs combs by Emma Watson.

Meanwhile upstairs in the Vintage Lounge warmer stock is continuing to arrive, there is even a fabulous vintage black satin cape, fully lined and buttoned at the neck, very goth, very glam!

Like all good retailers we have decided to have a summer sale. Right now throughout the month of August there are flyers being handed out or can be found at various venues around town.

Present one of these flyers to us and you will receive a generous 20% discount from any total purchase over £15. With so much to choose from in the shop this could be just the time to come in and have a good look around.

Stock changes frequently, on a daily and weekly basis, so if you don't see what you want come back. Don't forget to make use of our free Sourcing Service. If there is a particular vintage/retro item you just cannot find, chances are we know someone who has it.

Very soon, The Curious Home will have a small selection of FRENCH IMPORT 1960s and 1970s vinyls for sale. We are currently researching them so we can sell them at the right price, but we will list them on the stock list page.

On this 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones, one of the items for sale will be a French Decca Rolling Stones box set, glitter lettering, 5 records each with pictures and biographical notes in both French and English (recordings 1963-1970).

Very good condition!

A great little blog with some amazing vintage ads. I've always been fascinated with old ads. No gently PC softly-softly talk for them!

ETHICAL NAG: VINTAGE ADS WE'LL NEVER SEE AGAIN

The Curious Home will be open tomorrow Sunday 22nd July, from 12.30pm to 3pm.  :-)

This week, The Vintage Lounge and The Curious Home are having a little revamp. Some clothes will be moving downstairs and some of the lovely stuff from the Curious Home will be moving up... We are also thinking about changing the decoration a little bit. We are also slightly behind in our stock list - the best way to know what we have in store is to visit us!
Please bear with us, we'll get there eventually!
The shop will be open as usual.

From tomorrow Saturday 14th July, The Curious Home will have on sale 12 volumes of the 21 volume series "The Enchanted World", 1986, Time-Life. These are collectable books, and are in very good condition, including the beautiful dust jackets! They are packed-full of wonderful illustrations and fascinating texts...
The series even has its OWN WIKIPEDIA PAGE!
We will be selling them at a special price. If you want the 12 volumes, do come to the shop as early as possible and get the 12 books for £110 (instead of £120 - each book is £10). If you buy between 5 and 11 books, you will get one half-price (£5).

Here are the books we have in stock:
Fable Lands
Ghosts
The Fall of Camelot
Gods and Godesses
Fairies and Elves
Spells and Bindings
Dwarfs
Wizards and Witches
Seekers and Saviours
Night Creatures
Water Spirits
Legends of Valour

In 1986, the advert for the series was narrated by the legendary Vincent Price! And here it is (you will need to go to the You Tube link as the embedding has apparently been disabled!):
